Play Multiplayer Rummy Online

The Deck and Dealing

Rummy uses a standard deck. Each player is dealt a hand of 7 cards. The rest are placed in the draw pile face down.


To begin play, a card is played from the draw pile face up. On their turn, each player may either pick up the last card played face up on the table or draw a card from the draw pile. If the draw pile is exhausted, the discarded cards are used to make a fresh draw pile.

They may then choose to ‘lay down’ cards from their hand, as parts of melds. There are two types of meld:

A set is a group of 3 or 4 cards of the same value.

A run is a group of at least 3 consecutive cards of the same suit.

Players may also add cards to existing sets and runs. This is called laying off.

At the end of their turn, they must discard one card from their hand onto the table.

Play continues until one player has gotten rid of their whole hand. Points are calculated and if no one has reached the target points for the game, another round begins.


Whoever gets rid of their cards first scores points equal to the sum of the values of the cards remaining in their opponents’ hands.

Face cards are worth 10 points, Aces are worth 1 point and all other cards are worth their number values.

Winning the Game

Whoever scores a set number of points first wins. The options are 200, 300, 400 and 500 points.


Points Strategy

Three scoring systems are available:


Aces can be low, high, low or high, or around the corner (making the suit circular).

Five points under Ten

Cards under Ten are all worth 5 points.

Multiple Melds

Players can lay down multiple melds in one turn.

Meld before lay-off

Players must have laid down a set or run before they can lay off cards.

Going Rummy

The bonus for melding all cards in one turn can be set to double, triple, or disabled entirely.


The number of times the discard pile can be reused to refresh the draw pile can be set to 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, or disabled entirely.


The discard pile is shuffled before refreshing the draw pile.


The decks can contain 2 or 4 Jokers, or Jokers can be disabled.

Card Game Basics

A deck of cards consists of 52 cards, with 4 distinctive subgroups. Each of these subgroups is recognised by a symbol and are referred to as suits. They consist of Clubs, Spades, Hearts and Diamonds. Each suit contains 13 cards which, generally, are considered in this order, Ace (A), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jacks (J), Queen (Q) and King (K).
